The Crucial Historian

Introduction
Genocide, Radical, Literate, that’s what on my mind about Howard Zinn. He was historian of America. His Experience along time ago with the reality of his life that makes him a great historian. One of his experience when he was 14 years old. At that time he found the book on the road, and when he saw that his parents knew that he was interested in the book even though they do not have any of the books at home. This is one thing that makes Howard Zinn from nothing to something. He has crucial article about “Speaking Truth to Power with Books” that made controversy in the world.

Summary

Time by time, Knowledge grow very rapidly because of that a lot of research to prove histories that ever written. Similarl, The American history of the Christopher Columbus is considered the inventor of the American by the American people and there is special day for celebrate. Howard Zinn is a historian found evidence that Christopher Columbus was not the first discover of America then he write down in a book entitled "A People's History of The United States".
There are several points that Howard Zinn wrote on Christopher Columbus in his article, those are: First, whether you know what the real reason Columbus went sailing, Columbus raping the daughter of one of the Spanish nobleman who was aged 13 years. Courts can not decide he should be put to death, and eventually Queen Isabella sent him on a mission looking for a new continent (when it was the main goal is to find India) and with expectations, Columbus can not go back. Second, Howard Zinn reminds us that Columbus was not a man to be proud of Americans because he claiming that he was the first discover of America and Columbus also do genocide to American citizen.

Main Body (Critique)

In this golden opportunity, I will critique Zinn’s article, there are several points on Columbus that are neglected in Zinn’s article, they are: First, Zinn did not explain who the first discover  the continent of America.  I believe that Howard Zinn did not enlarge in his great book about Columbus truly. So, this is the weakness of Howard Zinn, why he did not want to say correctly who had discovered this continent. A series of historians found that Muslim who explorers have set foot and spread Islam in America over hundreds of years before Columbus. I believe Howard Zinn didn’t want if the name of Islam that will be remembered by the American people. We have to remember, Zinn is Jewish and Jewish never have the blessing if Islam spread their wings.
Second, Why Zinn did not write any references in his article when talking about Columbus and others. For this reason, reference is the strength of any readings, without it the reader still perceive that the writer is like playing or pretending in his writing. The reference is one of the most important things that will convince the reader. Remember, you are like Captain in the class that always instruct all of your friend.
Third, Why Zinn did not explain Who is Colombus? Zinn only look Colombus in negative side. In this case indicated that Zinn only want to make a bad Colombus name. I think is be better if Zinn give explanation about Colombus, not only in the negative side but also in the positive side.
Unethical if we just look at Howard Zinn on the negative side, we also need to discuss Howard Zinn on the positive side. Howard Zinn has hight flavor in literacy. Howard Zinn write in his article that the truth through with the book is something that could change the conscious of people, and can change the world. Awareness of reading, because when the sound produced will quickly go away if we do not record the moments talk by remembering and writing, write down in sheets of paper and then put them together in a book. He explains how the act of writing can be shattering world. Through books produced writers, until finally read by many people and ultimately implies how these writings can change a person from their paradigm, to their life.
In addition it was also revealed what the books do and get at least partial answers to some of the questions, whether that happens in the world? What is its effect? Does the book help change the world? How the way the books help someone? because he did not think we know exactly what is done or what is writing a book do in changing one's consciousness. Here we can see clearly that Howard Zinn emphasizes the importance of reading books and reading is one application of literacy.

Conclusion

From what has been described above can conclude, That each person has a way of life and each experience. Sometimes, humans live in his life did not escape from the name of mistakes. There is no such thing as perfect because perfection belongs only for God. As well as the way of life of Howard Zinn, for being a historian he must pass through the twists and turns of life. Like to work as a truck driver for a freight warehouse finance college, Joining the Air Force during World War II , Working as a bomber in the Air Force Division 18, and there are many twists and turns life of Howard Zinn is not writen in history.
No, history that ever written in the world that does not bring benefits. Each history will bring benefits if the reader is able to grasp the meaning and wisdom. If we are still struggling to grasp the meaning and lessons of a history, means we have to increase the openness of our minds. Wisdom and the meaning of a history will not get into a closed mind. Writing History can also function as a Literacy Strategy. As a Literacy Strategy focuses the children to think and learn in relation two aspects (history and writing ). Likewise with Howard Zinn article, which is truly remarkable in said how meaning can be delivered by a book, and how books can change the paradigm of someone who is finally able to explain how the world could be changed because of book.
